Excellent article Christina! It's so easy to forget to take the time to think about what we really want; everything's so busy!
I've found for me downloading all the **** into my journal in the mornings really fast tracks the intention thing. It's amazing the impact it has ...
Once I've got rid of the stuff, the things I really want start to flow ... and the more often I write the faster the things I really want seem to appear ... even my partner has noticed!

This really resonated with me, both for my personal life and professional one in marketing! I believe the best marketing projects blends a true desire to help people solve problems or increase happiness, etc. and incorporates your passion into the promotions, going deep and touching people and effectively promoting your products.

The social psychologist Albert Bandura came up with a cycle of feedback called reciprocal determinism. It acknowledges that the person (includes how we think and filter the world around us) both affects and is affected by behavior and environment. The "rose colored glasses effect" you described here is a perfect example of that. What we think and chose to see changes what we do. What we do changes the way people respond to us. The way people respond to us changes how we think and behave.

Great post.

I totally feel you and agree with this blog wholeheartedly. YES to living ON purpose! YES to being me as I was born to be! YES to life, to love, to freedom, to bliss! YES to letting go of what is not mine! I've shared this with my FB friends because it is so on point.

...and just a note, I've done this, am doing this and loving every sweet moment of my life...as is.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom. You are appreciated.

Christine, thanks for sharing such a powerful insight in an easy to get story. I've been finding myself faced with a very core change in order to keep up with that's happening in my world today. I used to motivate myself by complaining - about myself, other people on my team, the work I had to do, how long it took. You name it, I said it - to myself... rarely to others. Sure, I got a lot done. I just didn't enjoy the people or the journey as much as I wanted to.

Even worse, I was getting all the urgent tasks done, while the important projects always got pushed to the side - I complained I didn't have the time or the energy by the time I got to them at the end of a 'busy' day. So now I'm open to exploring alternatives.

This change is so new I'm not even sure what I'm going to say to myself. I do know I can change my behavior easier than I can change my inner dialog - which will change as I behave differently.

So here's my plan - I'm going to get up, get on the mat for some yoga, walk before it's blazing hot here in Florida, then do something creative during my creative time - before I check emails and start meetings.

Christine, check in with me in a few days to find out how I'm doing and remind me to post a comment here for all the world to see... what better motivation that to know you're all watching... :)

Amen. A couple of months ago I was so stuck because of all the sticky food I had been eating. i ate 10lbs of cinnnamon bears almost completely by myself, plus Easter clearance candy. It is amazing how much better my attitude and focus is now that I have flushed that out a bit. Great post.

You are welcome! I find that I need reminders about the practical, daily life stuff that keep me up and motivated - and know that others need friendly, practical reminders too! So, I share. Being aware is all part of being and living ON Purpose.

I am still suffering from greatness avoidance myself. In taking my abnormal psychology class (which I should be writing my final paper for right now) I realized that I was having a clinical hypo-manic episode when I first wrote to you about my big ideas and crazy dreams. My life has been littered with such episodes. I realized the depth of my fear that I really am crazy. Are all the amazing things I believe about myself just part of a delusional superiority complex?

And yet, I have never been truly depressive. They said there was no such thing as unipolar manic disorder. It occurred to me that all the people who achieve historically great things have been possessed of this hypomanic quality, but it is not in the clinical therapy books because it is not maladaptive behavior. It is the power of progress that moves the world.

Which is scarier? that I am crazy or that I am as powerful as I believe I am? *Securing bands around my ankles. Exhale. Again. Jump and wait for the bungie cords to catch.* Ah, the thrill of fear.
